The Computer Science Institute of the University of Le Mans (LIUM) has an
opening for a postdoc position in the field of Statistical Machine
Translation.  The successful candidate will work on a project on Machine
Translation Enhanced Computer Assisted Translation (MATECAT), funded by the
European Commission.

Computer assisted translation tools are currently the dominant technology in
the translation and localization market.  Recent achievements by the
statistical MT approach have raised new expectations in the translation
industry. So far, statistical MT has focused on providing ready-to-use
translations, rather than outputs that minimize the effort of a human
translator.  The goal of the Matecat project is to effectively integrate
statistical MT within the translation workflow, to make MT aware of its use,
to self-tune to the task, to learn from the user feedback, and to be
informative.

We are looking for an excellent candidate with proven experience in the
fields of statistical machine translation, NLP or machine learning.
Knowledge of Moses is an advantage.  Detailed information on our ongoing
research activities and other projects can be found at
http://www-lium.univ-lemans.fr/~schwenk.

Applications and inquiries should be sent to Holger Schwenk
(Holger.Schwenk@lium.univ-lemans.fr).  Salaries start at 2500 Euros net per
month, including health care and other social benefits.  The position is
immediately available and is open until filled.
