The JEI2000 meeting will take place at the School of Economics and Business of the University of Vigo. This School is located at the Lagoas-Marcosende University Campus [campus map], 12 kms uphill from downtown Vigo, close to Peinador Airport.

Public Transport

Airport - Conference Venue :

- Airport to Conference venue (“Facultad de Económicas y Empresariales, Universidad de Vigo”): There is no direct bus connection. Therefore, you must catch a taxi. The taxi fare from the airport to any location in Vigo (including University campus) is a fixed fee of 20.76€.

- University campus to the airport: There is no direct bus connection so you must call a taxi at the number 986 470000. The taxi fare from campus to the airport is approximately 16€.

Airport-downtown:

- Airport to the Hotels: you can catch a taxi (fixed fee of 20.76€ from the airport to any location) or a city bus (line C9A for 1.13€ per trip) and get off the bus at the stop called “Policarpo Sanz”. Buses leave the airport at a 30-minute interval starting at 7:30 a.m.

- Downtown to the Airport: you can catch a bus or taxi. If you choose to take a bus, you must catch bus line C9A at a stop called “Colon”. The bus fare is 1.13€. If you take a taxi it would cost you approximately 16€.

Downtown - Conference Venue:

- Hotels to the Conference Venue. There will be a free bus service. The buses depart at 8:45 a.m. on Thursday and 7:45 a.m. on Friday from the NH Palacio de Vigo Hotel and the Ciudad de Vigo Hotel.
There is a city bus from “Plaza de España” to Campus every 15 minutes (Line U2) that cost 1.13€. Once the bus reaches Campus, you have to get off on the second stop. From the city to the Conference Venue, you can also catch a taxi. The taxi trip costs around 16€.

- Conference venue to the hotels: There will be a free bus service. Buses will depart Campus at 6:40 p.m. on Thursday and 4:00 p.m. on Friday. You can also take a taxi or the city bus line U2 to “Plaza de España” or call a taxi at the number 986 470000.

How to get the Conference Venue by car

- Vigo (Plaza de España) to University of Vigo

Plaza de España is a roundabout with an enormous horse sculpture in the center. You can exit the city from Plaza España by taking the “Avda de Madrid” exit. Follow this road to leave the city direction A-55 highway/ Pontevedra / Ourense at the end of “Avenida de Madrid” where there is a traffic light and you can see a hypermarket called “Alcampo” to your right. Take the A-55 Highway (Also called “Autovia del Atlántico). Stay on the right lane and take exit 663 direction Cabral. This exit will take you to a road called Avenida de Ponte (Road PO-2005). Turn right and continue on this road. You will find a roundabout. Turn right (second right) at this roundabout. Follow this road until you reach another roundabout with a large steel ball sculpture in the center. This is where the University of Vigo campus begins. Do not turn off. Take the roundabout and go straight ahead. You will see a small lake to your left and an athletic field. The parking lot of the “Facultade de Económicas e Empresariais” is the first one on your right.

- Santiago to University of Vigo

Exit Santiago on AP-9 highway direction Pontevedra. This is a toll-fee road. There are two toll-stops on the way to Vigo from Santiago. One stop is before Pontevedra and the other one is at the exit to a small town called Redondela. Do not take this exit! The AP-9 crosses through the city of Pontevedra. Stay on this highway. Do not take any other exit. After the second toll-pay stop you will soon encounter the Rande Bridge. Be very careful not to surpass the speed limit indications. There are quite a few speed radar controls all along this highway. Once you have crossed the Rande Bridge the road forks into two directions. Take the road on the left which indicates “Orense”. If you take the road on the right you will end up in downtown Vigo. To go to Campus you must drive direction Ourense (left road). Once on this road, you must take the second turnoff which indicates “Vigo” and stay on the side-road. Don’t turn into the main road. If you do, you will end up in downtown Vigo too! Stay on the side-road; you will pass a petrol station and soon after that you will see an exit to the right. Take this turnoff and go straight ahead. This will incorporate you into a small road. You will see a sign that says Universidad de Vigo Campus Lagoas-Marcosende. Follow this indication. On this road you will drive under a bridge and come up to a round-about. Turn right (second right) at this roundabout. Follow this road until you reach another roundabout with a large steel ball sculpture in the center. This is where the University of Vigo campus begins. Do not turn off. Take the roundabout and go straight ahead. You will see a small lake to your left and an athletic field. The parking lot of the “Facultade de Económicas e Empresariais” is the first one on your right.

- City of Ourense to University of Vigo (Campus Lagoas-Marcosende)

Take the A-52 highway direction Pontevedra/Vigo. Turn off on the A-55 Highway direction AP-9 Baiona/Tui/AG-57/Portugal/E-1. Take exit 156 direction N-120. Keep to your left and follow the indications direction Salvaterra/Ponteareas/PO-410/N-120 and turn into the N-120 road. Take a right in “Variante Noroeste”. You will come to a roundabout where you are to take the first exit direction “Avda. de Buenos Aires/PO-331. Turn right towards the “Carretera San Cosme”. Keep to your right and you will come to another roundabout. Take the second exit direction “Calle de las Devesas”. Continue on “Calle Fonte das Abelleiras”. Turn left to continue on this street and take the first street to the left to “Camino de Vilarino”. Turn right to continue on “Camino de Vilarino”. Take the first to the right and stay on the “Camino de Vilarino”. This will take you to Campus.
