It was a great pleasure for the Marine Science Faculty of Vigo University to assume the difficult task to organize the
II International Symposium of Marine Science, due to the excellent management of the formers organizers in Valencia.

From East towards the Northeast, seabreeze carry us from the Mediterranean to the Atlantic Ocean.

Welcome to Vigo!

Our city is bound to the sea, as the greatest European fisher harbor is located in here, water sport activities are constantly organized, harbor freight holds transit trades and transport, traditional fishing and marine natural cultures are carried out inside the Ría, the biggest luxury cruise ships dock over the year, without mention that the Cies Islands, belonging to the Atlantic Island National Parks, are located at the front of the Ría. All these activities have to be managed, so Vigo and his surronding area could be considered as a natural laboratory for people related to Marine Science.

In Vigo, apart from the industries linked to the sea, there are several educational and research centers focused on marine studies, for example the Oceanographic Spanish Institute, The Marine Researh Institute (CSIC) , Escuela Náutico Pesquera, and of course the Marine Science Faculty of Vigo University.

These are some of the reasons that make the organization board to whish meeting students, professionals, researches, and sea lovers in this Symposium. We would like to turn it into a forum where scientist presents their latest investigation and results, which could improve students´ knowledge, training and future working perspectives.
