This lecture attempts to look at
how certain groups in the plays mentioned in the title are demonised and
estranged, and how they contribute to the clear definition of the dominant
and the legitimate. I shall deal with ‘racism’ in these plays and outlaw
sexuality, as well as the question of how these representations construct
human subjects. This lecture will range across various forms of ‘illegitimacy’
and will seek to explore the ideological boundaries that they trangress
with a view to exposing the fears and tensions that these theatrical representations
articulate.
