The general aim of the project is
to study the reception of Shakespeare's work in Spain from the 18th century
to the present through critical works, translations and theatrical productions,
always attempting to place them in a European context and, whenever possible,
to relate them to similar works in the rest of Europe. More specifically
we aim to critically search, compile, update and enlarge available materials,
and to bring to light unpublished texts. Publications are intended for
both a Spanish and a foreign audience. As the project will have entered
its third year by the time of the Vigo conference, it will be possible
to give some account of the ground covered so far.
