VIRTUAL AND AUGMENTED REALITY LABORATORY
Overview
In 2005, GPI became GPI-RV, starting a new research line on Virtual and Augmented
reality. As a first step, GPI-RV set up a laboratory for VR/AR researching
and began to develop VR applications.
Currently, four people are working in the VR/AR Working Group, lead by Xulio Fernández Hermida, who is in charge of the whole research group.
Specific Research Lines
Our main research lines related to VR/AR technologies are summarised below:
- Human Machine Interface
- Virtual Simulation and Virtual Mock-up Models
- Standardisation
- E-Learning
Virtual Reality Community
There are several research groups in the world working on RV/AR technologies and
we want improve collaboration with most of them, mainly with groups working in Spain
and specially in Galicia.
We really believe on knowledge sharing as a way to improve technology and science so several research groups have been contacted to establish collaboration lines and share projects which have to be faced in a multidisciplinary way.
